Freelance Social Media Specialist

Remote ∙ Contract

Brighter Futures is a full-service marketing, communications, and fundraising firm. We work alongside nonprofit and business partners to build their brand, grow their reach, and support their mission. Our work spans social media, graphic design, copywriting, web development, and fundraising strategy.

We’d love to find a freelance Social Media Specialist to join us in designing graphics and writing copy for our partners’ social media content. We know great people come from all kinds of backgrounds, so if you’re dependable, easy to work with, and enjoy this kind of work, we’d genuinely love to hear from you. Each partner will provide a style and branding guide, and we’ll offer direction each month on the general focus of the next month’s posts. Scheduling, posting, and metrics are handled elsewhere, so you can focus on what you do best: design and copywriting.

What You’ll Do

  • Design on-brand graphics for roughly 18-20 posts total per month, following style and branding guides

  • Write clear, engaging copy that fits each partner’s voice and audience

  • Work from monthly direction on content focus and themes

  • Deliver consistently and on schedule, every month

What You Bring

  • Experience with Illustrator, Photoshop, Adobe Express, Canva, Figma, or similar

  • The ability to produce professional-quality artwork

  • Strong writing skills with attention to detail

  • Comfort working within existing brand guidelines

  • Reliability — we’re looking for someone we can count on, month after month

  • Experience is a plus, but not required — we care most about skill, consistency, and a good attitude

A Note on Freelance Work

This is an independent contractor role. You’ll set your own hours, provide your own equipment and software, and work in a fully remote setting.

Compensation

We’re committed to paying fairly for the work involved. Rate will be discussed based on experience and scope.

We proudly welcome applicants from all backgrounds and do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or any other protected status. We especially encourage people from communities that are often underrepresented in creative and marketing work — including but not limited to people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, people with disabilities, and others from marginalized backgrounds — to apply.
